CLAUDIO CRETTI: Columns and pendants

Claudio Cretti presents a set of 10 sculptures and drawings, all unpublished in his seventh solo exhibition "Columns and Pendant" at Galeria Marilia Razuk, starting February 4.

According to Rodrigo Naves, critic and curator of the show, "The sculptures in this exhibition are built through the articulation of unpredictable objects, such as batons, violin bows, objects for cleaning wind instruments and musical items chained to pipes, blowpipes, wood, rubbers, stones, among other materials. The artist has been collecting popular and indigenous artifacts for over two decades and connects them to objects found in musical instrument stores in Pinheiros, the neighborhood where he lives."

Of strange appearance, the graphic structure that characterizes the sculptures, does not repel the eventual appearance of vegetable or animal forms, which are also reflected in the series of drawings "Kaaysá", made in 2018 during a 1-month residence in the Atlantic Forest, in Boiçuganga. Chimeras configures an almost figurative attitude in the artist's recent work."
