The Artium Institute of Culture inaugurates the exhibition “Lampejar”, a solo
show by the Rio de Janeiro artist José Bechara. The exhibition offers a glimpse
into Bechara's recent production, spanning over 30 years of his career.

With the support of Galeria Marília Razuk, the exhibition includes works from
the series Dancing in my room, in which Bechara created small-scale pieces,
surfaces exploring bold and solid colors, insisting on overflowing beyond the
metrics they are confined to.

The exhibition also features three-dimensional pieces from the series Graphic
Sculptures: Allen Allen large, in aluminum and fluorescent paint, and Super Oxy
in SAC steel. These sculptures are composed of geometric elements of varying
masses and measurements, ordered by gravity, proposing reflection on
emptiness as they combine solid and void elements, suggesting "drawing" in
real space.

The exhibition brings together a collection of paintings in which the geometric
tradition, which usually asserts an ideal world, gives way to a crisis of
certainties, and praises other aspects more closely related to the human
condition: the imperfections of this same world made up of doubts, fears, and
flaws. "My relationship with geometry holds the desire to reveal flaws in the real

world, to corrode certainties, and to damage mathematics," details José
Bechara.
